About CTBS
CTBS is an unofficial fan site that brings together Brawl Stars player stats, brawler meta and tier lists, and map and event information. It is free to use with no sign-up or payment. This page explains what the site offers, where its data comes from, and the method behind our meta tier list.
What you can do here
- Player lookup: search any tag for trophies, rank, owned brawlers, and recent battle log
- Meta tier list: S–D tiers and a meta index built from real Ranked-mode data
- Brawler detail: per-brawler win and pick rate, star power, gadget and gear usage, best modes, counters, synergies, and hand-written tips
- Map meta: the current rotation and the strongest brawlers per map
- Per-mode tier lists: separately computed tiers for Gem Grab, Brawl Ball, and more
- Patch impact: measured win-rate shifts before and after each balance patch
- Best duos & counter dictionary: synergy pair rankings and per-brawler matchup charts
- Event rotation: current and upcoming game modes and maps
- Player comparison, favorites, and Korean/English support
Where our data comes from
Player stats, the brawler list, and event information are fetched in real time from Supercell's official Brawl Stars API.
Our meta statistics (win rate, pick rate, counters, synergies) are collected ourselves rather than relying on a third-party aggregator. We periodically crawl the public battle logs of players gathered from rankings and public matches, de-duplicate the same battle, and tally results by brawler, mode, map, matchup, and synergy. The sample grows the more we run, and we keep it separated by patch.
How the meta is calculated (methodology)
A raw win-rate ranking tends to overrate small-sample “specialist” brawlers. To correct for this, CTBS applies the following:
- Ranked mode, maxed (power 11) only: filters out unfinished brawlers that would distort win rates.
- Bayesian shrinkage score: pulls each brawler's win rate toward the global average, more strongly the smaller its sample. The score reads as “how many points above the global average.”
- Effective-sample correction: when the same player appears repeatedly, the sample is not independent. We measure the player-level correlation (design effect), discount the effective sample, and reduce overconfidence.
- Low-sample exclusion: brawlers with too few samples to be reliable are removed from the tier list and shown separately.
- Quantile tiers: S–D tiers are split by score ranking.
We are also clear about the limits. The sample skews toward higher-rank players, so it can differ from the average across all trophy ranges, and win rates shift with the mode mix. The full formulas and caveats are also available in the “How it's calculated” panel on the meta page.
How the derived statistics are built
Every statistics page beyond the tier list is produced from the same self-collected dataset.
- Per-mode tier lists: battles are split by mode and scored separately per mode, using the same shrinkage and effective-sample corrections, with “that mode's average win rate” as the baseline.
- Patch impact: battles are stored in per-patch buckets, so win rates before and after a balance patch can be compared like-for-like. Only brawlers with a reliable sample in both patches make the table.
- Daily win-rate trend: the trend chart on each brawler page is drawn from daily tallies; days below a minimum decided-battle sample are omitted as noise.
- Duos & counters: pair-level results are tallied for same-team (synergy) and opposing-team (matchup) encounters; pairs below a minimum sample are hidden.
How often it updates
Player and event information reflects the official API in real time. The meta tier list and map statistics update at build time, typically refreshing with new data on a daily cadence. Each meta page shows when it was last updated.
